Janelle Monae, The Sadies To Open Arcade Fire Toronto Island Concert

You may remember when I said earlier today that the world will have to try hard to make a more awesome story than a Tom Jones/The Killers collaboration. Well congrats mankind, you win. Janelle Monaé and The Sadies have been announced as the openers for Arcade Fire’s show on Toronto Island on August 14.

Janelle Monaé recently announced a tour co-headlining with Of Montreal. The Sadies also were just shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize. Arcade Fire will be making one other Canadian stop on their tour on July 31 as part of the Osheaga Festival before heading overseas to Europe and the UK.

Arcade Fire’s hotly anticipated album The Suburbs is out on August 3 in Canada on the band’s Sonovox label.
