Jared Leto faced a bomb scare at a 30 Seconds to Mars event in Los Angeles Thursday night. Fans were gathered at The Hive to watch 20 minutes of the band’s new documentary, Artifact. A man threw a gift wrapped box at Leto’s feet and addressed the crowd. “It’s time for a little self help,” he said. Jared responded by saying, “I think he’s probably got some sort of agenda or something like that.” Someone in the audience got it all on tape.
Leto then grabbed him by the arm and threw him outside. According to the venue’s Twitter account, the bomb squad arrived at 9:30 pm after the crowd was evacuated. Leto told the group outside that the man said there were “some explosives” in the box.
LAPD cleared Melrose Avenue for four blocks to check the box and the suspect’s car which was parked in the middle of the street. Cops say there was no bomb in the box, only candy and a blender. The event is rescheduled for Friday night.
