Jay-Z and Alicia Keys give up on World Cup song

Jay-Z and Alicia Keys have given up on trying to write a song for the World Cup.

The two stars who had a hit last year with “Empire State of Mind,” were looking to write a soccer-themed follow-up but according to Keys they just weren’t schooled enough on the sport to do it justice.

“If we did a record about soccer it would be obvious we didn’t know much more about the sport than who David Beckham is,” Keys said.

Despite canning their song, Keys is still set to take part in a massive concert to celebrate the World Cup on June 10, which will also feature John Legend, Shakira and many others.
