Jesse: The Night Before

So here it is - the night before I officially start as a MuchMusic VJ. I have to be in to the office for 9:30, so I should probably be sleeping, but my sleeping schedule is way off so I don’t think that’s going to happen.

I bought new runners today and went for a run in hopes I would be exhausted and pass out, but there’s just so much stuff to do before tomorrow. I’m compiling a list of all the shows over the next couple months I’m going to go to, and all the interviews I hope to do, and a bunch of ideas for shows I need to get down before it runs through my mind.

What to say… I remember starting this process back in February of 09, what a year this has been. I’m looking back and thinking about where I’ve been over the last couple years and what I’ve done, and looking forward to what’s ahead. I’m thinking about what has prepared me for this job. I learned a lot from touring. Had the privilege of touring with The Academy Is, Cobra Starship, Sherwood and others. I learned so much about this industry from Gabe in Cobra. That guy is full of wisdom. Watching behind the scenes of a huge tour and seeing what its like to live on the road and constantly be working, except for a few hours in a bus playing Wii tennis between shows. What a ride!

I remember promoting shows at a venue I was trying to run back in Langley, BC and meeting Lights for the first time, long before she was Lights, but well on her way. Learned a lot from seeing her journey. She knew what she wanted and never gave up. I don’t plan on ever giving up.

My dreams are all I have. I’ve dreamt a lot over the years and had the privilege of seeing a lot of them come to life. Here I am again, seeing one of my dreams come true. It’s been a lot of work, dedication and determination. But here I am. I’m so thankful. Anyways, this is the night before rambles. I tend to do that. Here goes nothing. Wish me luck.
