Jessie J had to take to Twitter to address the untrue claims by an unauthorized biography about the British pop star. The book, Jessie J: Who’s Laughing Now, by Chloe Govan makes the claim that Jessie J was forced to say that she was bisexual because it was more favourable than saying she was fully lesbian. In the book Govan says, “Jessie might have been with boys in the past — but she is 100 per cent gay. Jessie was openly lesbian and didn’t hide it. She was advised not to come out, though. Certain people thought being bi was trendy, exotic and a fashion statement. It would increase her allure.” According to Govan, “Being gay would alienate people. They knew how important image was and asked her to tone it down a bit. There are so many homophobes out and there were fears of a career-damaging backlash.”

Jessie J addressed these claims on Twitter by commenting, “Its funny how many people I’ve dated\slept with that I’ve never even met according to the tabloids. BUT what’s that?! *whispers because its a secret* I’m really a lesbian?! Ha! Thanks for writing yet another boring untrue story. I thought I was still dating Tinie, NO Ellie G, NO Mark Wright….bla bla bla! #cantkeepup #noneofitstrue”

Sadly for Govan, this piece of work will probably discredit her professionally for as long as we have Google. Are we not past sexuality as a barometer of how talented or how successful an artist can judged by? What do you guys think? Sound off in the comment section below.
