Jessie J is a prime example of music’s ability to heal. The mother of six-year-old Tyla Atkin, a little girl who was placed in a medical-induced coma, credits UK singer Jessie J for helping to wake her daughter and speed her recovery. Tyla was left near-death after being involved in a car accident in April, with doctors concerned the little girl would not be able to properly walk or smile if she woke up from her coma.
But a visit from superstar Jessie J, who spent half an hour singing the little girl’s favourite song Rainbow, is what helped wake the child up from her coma, says Tyla’s mother, Michelle Atkin, explaining “I believe Jessie J saved Tyla. She gave my daughter back to me. I’m so grateful.”
Jessie J was already visiting the hospital where Tyla was a patient and Michelle reached out to the singer’s team, who secured a meeting. Michelle told the UK’s Daily Mail that the Price Tag singer has kept in contact with the family and received updates on Tyla’s, who is recovering well.
