Joel Madden is DJing the Oscars

The Oscars have hired Joel Madden to DJ at the ceremony to create a party atmosphere.
Madden tweeted on Thursday, “Guess who is Dj’in the Oscars. Me. Yes i will put on a bow tie of some sort.”

Director Adam Shankman, the show’s producer, told People magazine, “We’re friends and I asked him. I wanted there to be a party atmosphere and I wanted to make sure everyone in the room was having a great time. He’s one of the best, and knows most everyone there.”

This will be Madden’s first time at the Oscars. His future father-in-law Lionel Richie has been nominated for three Academy Awards for Best Original Song for “Miss Celie’s Blues (Sister)” from The Colour Purple, “Endless Love” from Endless Love and won the Oscar for “Say You, Say Me” from White Nights.

The 82nd Academy Awards will air on CTV March 7 at 8 pm ET.
