I love Tim Burton. I love Johnny Depp. I love Alan Rickman. I love Sacha Baron Cohen. And yes, I love musicals (shut up). So naturally I’ve been waiting in anticipation for the Holiday season, not for the presents and delicious eggnog, but rather for the release of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.
Until now, I have only been able to see promo shots for the movie, but now there is finally an official trailer and damn, it looks good. In true Tim Burton form, there are highly-contrasted shades and colours, there are crazy costumes and hair, there are stylized sets galore, and… dance numbers? I don’t know where this could go wrong. Blood, murder, and a singing Johnny Depp - it’ll be so wonderfully bizarre.
But then again, I had overly-high expectations for Across the Universe, and you all know how I was let down by that doozie. Hopefully Sweeney Todd is as brilliant as all of its participants.
See the trailer here.

The trailer for this movie is amaaaaaazing. I’m just hoping that it’s not going to be completely different than it’s advertised (like Across the Universe was…although, I still LOVED that movie.)
I knew that Johnny Depp sang.. He started out in a band. He even scored a bunch of songs in Pirates of the Caribbean, as well as Once Upon A Time In Mexico.
well clearly if you were a fan of johnny depp , you’d know that he sings. if you’ve seen cry baby then that should be obvious he’s a singer. i love him with my lifeee =] and i deffinetly cant wait untill this movie comes out. it looks amazing ! xoxo
AGREED, kaitlyn. Cry Baby is truly AMAZING. my goshhhh, his voice was soo golden in that movie.
That wasn’t him singing in cry baby…they dubbed his voice.
Unfortunately, he did not sing in Crybaby. His voice was good but not the rockabilly type that was needed.
But he obviously can sing just judging by the trailer.
well he played a part in singig in cry baby. he helped sing, but yes they did have to fool around with his voice a bit. he did start out in a band though called the kids and that in fact is when they moved to L.A and nickolas cage got johnny a role on a nightmere on elm street. i was pretty much just born when he started his career but i started liking johnny when the first pirates came out in 2003. ever since then ive loved him. i really cant wait for this movie.
it looks really good, and of course johnny will do an amazing job. we already know that!
They didn’t fool around with his voice sweetheart. The voice in Cry Baby is James Intveld, who is a brilliant singer. Johnny Depp’s voice wasn’t right for the songs and their style.
Rah rah oo la la rama ma la la gaga!
