Johnny Depp Sings…?

I love Tim Burton. I love Johnny Depp. I love Alan Rickman. I love Sacha Baron Cohen. And yes, I love musicals (shut up). So naturally I’ve been waiting in anticipation for the Holiday season, not for the presents and delicious eggnog, but rather for the release of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

Until now, I have only been able to see promo shots for the movie, but now there is finally an official trailer and damn, it looks good. In true Tim Burton form, there are highly-contrasted shades and colours, there are crazy costumes and hair, there are stylized sets galore, and… dance numbers? I don’t know where this could go wrong. Blood, murder, and a singing Johnny Depp – it’ll be so wonderfully bizarre.

But then again, I had overly-high expectations for Across the Universe, and you all know how I was let down by that doozie. Hopefully Sweeney Todd is as brilliant as all of its participants.
