Only MuchMusic can induce heart palpitations and ear deafening decibels of this magnitude! The 2009 MUCHMUSIC VIDEO AWARDS (aka the event of the year) is back, co-hosted by the Jonas Brothers. The larger than life trio, who have two platinum albums in Canada, return to Much HQ after leaving downtown Toronto in unprecedented ruins following the most insane LIVE@MUCH the nation has ever seen. Last July, 6,000+ screaming Jonas Brothers fans demonstrated their devotion, some lining up for more than two days to meet their idols.

The 2009 MUCHMUSIC VIDEO AWARDS airs live Sunday, June 21.

In addition to their MMVAs co-hosting duties, the GRAMMY®-nominated band performs for the Jonas-crazy crowd the day after they open The Jonas Brothers 2009 World Tour, which has seven upcoming Canadian dates and has been selling out across North America and Europe. Their gotta-get new album, Lines, Vines and Trying Times, out on June 15, gives the group new smash hits for the high-energy, music-packed, celeb-filled, live broadcast where celebrities have been known to go buck wild!

If your 14 usually a week before theres a line you have to wait in which will probably be on Saturday the 13 of June at much music in Toronto and you get your braclet and your not aloud to brake it or take it off and you have to have an item of identificantion and then you wait in line for most of the day on the 21 of june for the actual show…. its a lot of waiting! but its completly free to see everything thats happening which is really awesome hope you have fun I know I will

Well a previously excellent music awards show has been ruined. Yes much music, you ARE appealing to thousands of JB fans, but what about the rest of us that hate them? Their music is made by disney producers, and the “golden trio” can’t even play a guitar to save their lives. They are a disgrace to music as we know it. It’s just showing how music is no longer a passion, skill or talent, it’s a buisness. The MMVA’s are about celebrating MUSICIANS not wannabees who are popular because of mass-advertisements and the money behind them. Muchmusic, you should be ashamed of yourselves for this. These should no longer be the awards for music videos, as it is no longer a fair fight, it should be the awards for jonas brothers because that i what is popular now i guess, hard-working, deserving musicians don’t stand a chance. You have lost a viewer this year in myself, along with many others.

Much Music and the MMVAs have always been a place to showcase Canadian MUSIC. Our music scene is like no other, and should be celebrated. The MMVAs have never been hosted by anyone other the VJs for as long as I can remember, so it’s clear that featuring the Jonas Brothers is a desperate attempt to remain relevant, at the cost of authenticity. How do they even plan to conduct the show, despite constant screaming? Let’s be honest, Live@Much wasn’t much for words. This year should be interesting, is all.

Ok I absolutly Love the Jonas Brothers, I have since their VERY FIRST album ok. And Im happy to see them getting somewhere. Lots of people like them, and lots of people Cant stand them. I just want to say to all the people that dont like them is, everyone has different tastes in music and Much Music is doing a good job at having a viaraty of music. You say that you hate the Jonas Brothers and that they have taken over Much, well Guess what, I HATE Rap…I cant stand it. But do you see me making a big deal and saying that it suck and blah blah blah…no, I respect peoples taste in music. And dont think that I am one of thought teeny boppers…because I Am NOT. I am 16 (Almost 17) and I love how just about anyone can listen to the Jonas Brothers, because their lyrics dont have every word a swear word and dont talk about how girls should look and descrimanate against people. Its just good, fun Music.

Im sorry about going on like that, but I just thought I’d leave my opinion. You can say what ever you want about that, Im not Changing my mind.

I’m kind of on the fence wit the whole thing . . . . I like some of their songs even though most of them are really cheesy It also seems like much music totally sold out to all the tween fans but regardless i think the show is still going to be awesome as long as we still get to see the VJs we’ve all grown to love so much as well as all the other great talent they’ve showcased in the past

Clearly you should get your facts straight before you post on here. Have you ever really taken the chance to find out anything about the Jonas Brothers? No probably not cause if you did you would know that they were never with Disney at first. They’ve been around for 5 years writing there OWN music and performing it. They were signed with Columbia Records for 2 years before being dropped. Then they signed with Hollywood records (Disney). I’ve seen them play live and accoustic small shows and trust me they DO play their own instruments… I heck of a lot better than me even though I’ve been playing for quite some time. They have a passion for music just as much as the rest of us or else they wouldn’t be doing what they’re doing! Did you know the youngest brother was on broadway performing in Les Mis, Beauty and the beast, Sound of Music, Annie Get Your Gun, and more? Or that the middle brother was on broadway as well performing in La Boheme? No you didn’t… So don’t you DARE say they don’t have skill, passion or talent! Cause they probably have more passion for music in their pinky finger than you do in your whole body!

And as for them just being about “the business” that’s also a load of bull. Unlike most of your so called real musicians the Jonas Brothers treat there fans with respect and care more about them than anything. They realized that it wasn’t Disney that got them to where they are now it’s there fans. Their father once told them “Live like your at the bottom even if you’re at the top” and trust me they live by that quote… unlike most musicians now whose egos are the size of North America

So please next time you go to critize a band do a bit of research next time… and NEVER judge a book by its cover…

thank you for posting that! I completely agree! I personally can not STAND Rap but hey you don’t hear us complaining about all the rap artist that will probably be there!… I just think it’s really low for people to not watch it because of one band! I dislike Coldplay very much but they’re at almost EVERY awards show out there!! But you don’t see me going around saying “Oh I’m not going to watch that cause Coldplay will be there”…

You have no idea who I am, an you say i have no passion or talent for music. I’m a struggling musician who writes and performs my own music, yet i can’t get a record deal because i don’t look the part of popular culture. I’m not a “pretty boy” and producers don’t feel like they can market music, but they can market the image.
Also, why exactly were they dropped by Colombia? Maybe cuz those guys had brains. Disney is one of the BIGGEST corperations in the world, whose sole purpose is to make money, they thought that could make a profit of this, and they did. And yes, Disney DID get them to the top , if you have the disney logo on, you’re gonna get noticed. They sold out to Disney just for that one shot. Yes they got it, but only because disney smelled a profit.
Maybe you should be a little more catiuos before you decide to start saying all musicians have no talent or have huge egos.

Well if you had a passion for music and talent you wouldn’t be so quick to judge other musicians like the Jonas Brothers! And hey it’s not my fault you don’t “look the part.” What else do you expect from producers?! They market stuff they KNOW they can sell! It’s not the producers choice! it’s the consumers choice and the producers just go along with it… for example the Jonas Brothers hosting the MMVA’s. You don’t realize HOW many people are going to watch it because of them! I have friends coming from the states just to watch it live! See they get what they know can get them views!

You want to know the reason why they were dropped? I’m not going to lie it was because of there record sales. They didn’t sell enough CD’s so they dropped them… so much for the “only cause their pretty boys” theory now eh? Yes Disney got them to the top but guess what they worked there ASSES off to get there and to get noticed by them! Honestly if Disney came knocking on MY door I’d be a complete IDIOT not to take it! So what I would have haters like you on my back but guess what! I wouldn’t want a fan like you anyways! And news flash EVERY corperation is out to MAKE MONEY! That’s how this crappy world works buddy! better get use to it! So if someone came on your door offering you a record deal and would pretty much set you for the REST OF YOUR life you wouldn’t take it? If you wouldn’t you’d be a pretty dumb that’s for sure.

And hey I didn’t say ALL musicians were like that now did I? I’m a musician just like yourself and many others on this planet and I’m sure you don’t have a huge ego, neither do I, so please read carefully next time…

Couldn’t be any happier that they are going to be there. Im 15 (almost 16) and I am definately not ashamed to be a Jonas Brother fan. Why would I be? They are 3 amazing, talented, passionate musicians. Like said before by Dar-c they have worked their asses off to be where they are today.
