Juno Soundtrack Part II

April 2nd, 2008

After the chart-topping success of the Juno Soundtrack, another soundtrack will be released entitled, Juno B-Sides: Almost Adopted Songs.

The album will be released exclusively via US iTunes on April 8 (which hopefully means it will also be available in Canada) and includes several songs that didn’t make the final cut of the film. So, is this release simply just another cash grab? Most likely. However, Director Jason Reitman recently told NME.com, justifying, “Some [songs] seemed perfect at the beginning, but didn’t quite match the film as it evolved.”

I just find this hilarious. Hipsters everywhere must be fuming now that everyone suddenly loves Belle & Sebastian and The Moldy Peaches all because of a “quirky” indie-film that somehow found itself at the Oscars. And Kimya Dawson must be wiping her butt with a bottomless pile of Benjamins. I say, Good on them.

Here is the tracklisting for Juno B-Sides:

Kimya Dawson/Matea Messina – 20th Century Fox Fanfare
Barry Louis Polisar – Me And You
Belle & Sebastian – My Wandering Days Are Over
Mateo Messina – Juno Final Kite All
Kimya Dawson – Viva La Persistence
The Bristols – Little Baby
Jr. James & The Late Guitar – I’m Into Something Good
Mateo Messina – Meet The McGuffs
Astrud Gilberto – Once I Loved
Kimya Dawson – All I Want Is You
Buddy Holly – Learning The Game
Mateo Messina – Meet The Lorings
Trio Los Panchos – Besame Mucho
Yo La Tengo – You Can Have It All
Ellen Page – Zub Zub
