Justin Bieber drives three percent of Twitter activity

September 8th, 2010

How do we know Justin Bieber is a big deal? Well, there’s the multi-platinum record sales, the sold-out world tours, the millions of screaming young girls around every corner of this earth, and of course, that patented hairdo of his, y’know, “The Bieber.” But apparently he has quite the influence on Twitter.

No kidding. Not only does Justin have 5,083,884 followers and counting, but he’s also been a trending topic basically since the beginning and now it’s come out that he drives approximately three percent of all traffic on Twitter.

This news was confirmed by Dustin Curtis, a designer at Twitter who tweeted, “At any moment, Justin Bieber uses 3 percent of our infrastructure. Racks of servers are dedicated to him.” Bieber has rack servers? Whoa!

Seeing as hardly ten minutes go by without the Biebs tweeting some kind of love for his fans, it’s understandable that the guy has that much of an effect on Twitter.
