Justin Timberlake is going on the defensive for comments made over the weekend. During a pre-Super Bowl performance in New Orleans on Saturday night, Timberlake allegedly introduced his hit song Cry Me A River by saying “Sometimes in life, you think you found the one. But then one day you find out that she is just some bitch.” Timberlake has been very blatant about the cues in the song referencing his split with long-time girlfriend Britney Spears in 2002 after she cheated on him, even casting a Britney look-a-like in the song’s music video.
Timberlake is now saying that he was not calling his former flame a ‘bitch’, tweeting “Ok. I see you. Wouldn’t disrespect ANYONE personally. Ever. #Relax #ItsBritneyBitch I do love that saying though *with accent* #Respect (sic)”.
I like JT. I do. I think he’s an amazing musician and a solid comedic actor. But what exactly did he think people would say when he made such a terrible comment before introducing a song that is famous for being about his relationship with Spears? And must we continue to call women bitches? Yes, I know Britney uses it as her tagline. I’ll deal with her another day. Justin, you should be smarter than that.
Plus, Sir Paul McCartney was reportedly in attendance at the event, which aimed to raise money for the Shriners Hospitals for Children. Don’t say ‘bitch’ at a children’s event in front of a Beatle. He’s been knighted, for goodness sake.
