Let’s be real: I wasn’t a fan of Justin Timberlake’s new single, Take Back the Night. I was never able to get over its blatant rip off of Michael Jackson’s entire discography, crammed into an imitation track that was just lacking all sorts of signature Timberlake panache. The 20/20 Experience was such a stunner of an album and has already solidified a spot on our best-of year-end lists and this is what we get as an introduction to the second part of his triumphant musical comeback? Boy, you got us really worried there for a minute.
But, of course, we knew he’d redeem himself sooner or later. And this is what we were looking for. THIS is what we’re talking about!
TKO is Timberlake’s second single off of the 20/20 Experience Part 2 (out September 30th) and it’s a seven minute knockout of a track. With a grand and undeniable Timbaland beat — not to mention the producer’s vocals in the background — this track is definitely a jammin’ new track for us to dance to.
My first impression:
Then once I got a little more into it, this was all I could do:
Our only tiiiiny critique would be to cut out the cheesy beat-boxing near the end — a bit of a throwback to Timberlake’s Justified era, and not in a good way — but otherwise, TKO finds the singer back in the winner’s circle.

Final verdict: It’s definitely a knockout.
