Singer turned actor Justin Timberlake seems to be distancing himself even further from his musical roots. Fresh off the rumour that the actor is pursuing a campaign for his name to be included in this year’s Oscar nominations for his role as Napster founder Sean Parker in The Social Network, Timberlake is also expressing his interest in becoming a fixed figure on the long-running comedy sketch show, Saturday Night Live.
Appearing in over four episodes of SNL, Timberlake’s work on the show has become infamous, from his Single Ladies remake to his spoof of friend Ashton Kutcher’s prank show Punk’d to his collaboration with SNL regular Andy Samberg on Dick in a Box, which garnered one of Timberlake’s four Emmy nominations for his appearances on the show.
This week Timberlake told USA Weekend of his desire to be a permanent member of the SNL cast when he stated “I could totally see living here [in New York] for a season and doing [it].”
Would I like to see Timberlake as a permanent member of SNL? Maybe. Would I like to hear a new record from Timberlake in the next decade? Definitely.
