The Kanye West/Matt Lauer saga continues!
As we reported yesterday, Kanye made an appearance on The Today Show, where upon mentioning the Taylor Swift incident, NBC aired the infamous clip from the 2009 MTV VMAs underneath Kanye talking. Well, Yeezy was not happy about this, complaining to host Matt Lauer, who assured him that it was routine in order to give context.
Yeezy ended up tweeting his distaste for NBC’s decision to air his embarrassing moment, calling out Lauer, saying “HE TRIED TO FORCE MY ANSWERS. IT WAS VERY BRUTAL AND I CAME THERE WITH ONLY POSITIVE INTENT.”
Yesterday morning, after The Today Show aired the interview clip, Lauer announced that despite everything, Kanye would be performing “a special live concert on the plaza” on November 26th. Well, not so much any more.
Once again reaching out to Twitter, Yeezy said there’s no way he’ll be honouring that deal now, writing, “I’m not performing on the Today Show for obvious reasons. I’m so happy the world got to see just a small piece of ‘the set up’… I blatantly said I’m not performing on a tweet and to everyone around me and the next day they still announced a performance.”
Then he tweeted that the media is trying its hardest to portray him as an asshole. “Do you guys see what I’m saying now… this is just a small slice of the day to day bulls**t that goes on that helps to precipitate the idea that I such an asshole…. cause when I don’t perform oh noooow I’m the one that’s crazy or a jerk!”
But then he continued to complain about the “set up”: “If I hadn’t tweeted about how they set me up at the show they would have never played the extra footage that displayed how disrespectful… Right now I’m not complaining. I’m tweeting because I’m so happy you guys got to see this shit really go down!!!!! : ))))))!!!! FINALLY!!!”
To top it all off though, he ended by saying he’s cool with Lauer. “…And I don’t hate Matt Lauer… We don’t promote hate. That’s the whole point!!! I promote love and truth!”
Phew! Get all that? Kanye’s obviously the better man in all of this… or at least that’s what he thinks.
