Katy Perry and Rihanna tie for most number 1s on the Billboard charts

Katy Perry’s recent No. 1 on the Billboard Top 100 for Wide Awake has now tied her with close friend Rihanna for most No. 1s on the Billboard charts with nine each. This is an impressive feat, especially when you take into account that Rihanna didn’t release her first single until 2005 and Perry in 2008 – nine number one hits in that short period of time; man, don’t we feel lazy!

The charts also prove that women have clearly dominated the charts all these years with the top seven record holders being women. Lady Gaga, Pink, Britney Spears, Beyonce and Mariah Carey all round out the top of the list.

We sure hope Katy and Rihanna are celebrating their success together! Congrats, ladies!
