If you’ve seen Katy Perry’s new video for “California Gurls” you know that there’s not a whole lot covering her up while she’s lying on top of those pink clouds. Katy definitely knew this and told MTV News that there was a strict ban on heterosexual men on set.
“The cotton candy clouds! I was naked,” she said. “It was really fun to do. We had to do like a closed set because we didn’t want anyone seeing anything.”
We’re not sure how they tested every man’s sexuality, but Katy said the decision was mainly because of the nervousness that came from being in the buff. (Does that mean Snoop was also banned for those scenes?)
“You weren’t allowed (on the set) unless you were a girl or you’re gay; I think that’s probably like the standard for all girlfriends,” she explained. “Anyways, I was really excited to do something like this and really nervous. But it turned out (okay).”

Don’t forget, Katy Perry performs this Sunday at the MMVAs, which begin at 8:00 pm EST with our Red Carpet special.
And of course, she comes back to Much on Tuesday, June 22nd to discuss and perform in studio for a special Live@Much beginning at 7:00 pm EST.
