Katy Perry took to Twitter this weekend to break the silence over her divorce from comedian Russell Brand. Perry’s last post on the social media site came on December 26, when the singer tweeted a link to behind the scenes pictures from her California Dreams tour. Since announcing their divorce on December 30, Katy has remained silent on Twitter, with Brand only tweeting a handful of work related links, including a video of his earlier appearance on SNL.

On Saturday, Perry responded to the outpouring of support from her fans, tweeting “I am so grateful for all the love and support I’ve had from people around the world. You guys have made my heart happy again.” Perry also tweeted “Concerning the gossip, I want to be clear that NO ONE speaks for me. Not a blog, magazine, “close sources” or my family.” Many media sites are speculating that the second tweet is in direct response to Katy’s parents, who have recently been including Perry and her marriage in their sermons. Both of Katy’s parents are evangelical preachers.
