Katy Perry cuts her hair and gets dirty for Marine-inspired Part of Me video

Katy Perry joins the Marines in an attempt to distance herself from a cheating boyfriend in her video for Part of Me. Perry told MTV that she adhered to a strict meal plan and work out regime in preparation for the video shoot and even performed her own stunts, including flipping and carrying other Marines.

Director Ben Mor shot the video on location in the Camp Pendleton Marine Corps base in Oceanside, California and Perry spoke highly on her time on base with the Marines, saying “This music video, as much as I was sore and exhausted, I was so educated on people in the service who I’ve always respected, but this time the respect goes beyond and above anything I could’ve imagined.The stuff that they go through, the loyalties and strengths that they all possess, it seems like they are seriously, not to sound weird, but it’s seriously the heart of America.”
