Katy Perry rejects American Idol’s $20 million pay day

TMZ is reporting that Katy Perry has turned down American Idol’s offer to pay the singer $20 million to join this season’s judges panel. Sources who spoke to TMZ on the story are reporting that the offer began at $18 million and went up to $20 million for a one year contract, but the singer turned the offer down because she felt it wasn’t the right career move at the moment.

Considering Perry’s worldwide domination both on the music and movie charts and her hugely successful Teenage Dream Tour, a spot on American Idol may indeed slow down her career.

I wonder how mad Mariah Carey is over her piddly $18 million contract.
