Katy Perry is dishing out more details about her new album.
At Wednesday night’s ASCAP’s Pop Music Awards in Los Angeles, the singer told HitFix.com that she’s been listening to ABBA and The Cardigans a lot and really wants to make her fans jump with her new album.
“When I went on tour, as much as I love all the in-between songs, I felt I was missing some of the stuff that made people bounce up and down,” she said. “I really love that feeling when people are all jumping in unison.”
Katy feels that she’s just now feeling the album is close to finished. “We worked in Santa Barbara, we worked in Los Angeles. I was telling everybody I had a lot of jewels, but I didn’t have the crown and, then, I finally got the crown so all the jewels made sense,” she says. “And now I have this thing, this crown that I’m ready to present.”
Dr. Luke, who has reportedly produced six of the album’s songs and previously worked on Katy hits like “I Kissed a Girl” and “Hot N Cold,” said she presented him with a mixtape filled with “a lot of ‘90s stuff.”
He said, “[Katy] had made a mixtape of the things that were inspiring her and so I listened to all the kind of stuff and sort of got the vibe of what she was doing and then sort of just tried to made ideas for her and we started writing together.”
