Katy Perry’s “Part of Me” bombs at the box office

Turns out Katy Perry was just no match for Spider-Man. Perry’s 3D documentary, Part of Me debuted at #8 at the box office this past weekend, only making $7.1 million.

This was disappointing in comparison to previous 3D music films like Justin Bieber’s Never Say Never, which made $29.5 million and the Jonas Brothers’ The 3D Concert Experience, which earned $12.5 million over the course of three days. In addition, Part of Me had a $12 million budget, meaning that its weekend gross didn’t even match the film’s costs.

Katy Perry fans, where are you? I’m going to guess the answer is in the next theatre watching Andrew Garfield in tights which, I guess, is an acceptable response.
