Kay has released a psychedelic video for her latest track Whatever, an anthem for those who find themselves disillusioned their 9-5 job. The Canadian singer gives her East Coast roots a shout out in the video, referencing Halifax in the songs lyrics. Spending most of the video solo, Kay is making use of green screens, with brightly coloured graphics working as her background.
Kay’s only outdoors scene is shot on campus at the University of Toronto, a backdrop made famous by Joshua Jackson’s film The Skulls and Drake’s music video for The Motto. The singer performs on top of a bunch of balloons, floating above a little girls’ head. It unfortunately doesn’t flow with the rest of the video, but Kay’s high energy performance makes it work.
