It has been a hot minute since we last checked in with Kelis. Since her last album Flesh Tone dropped in 2010, all our Kelis information has been coloured by a Nas filter. Nas, Kelis’ ex-husband, will release upcoming album Life Is Good which features Kelis’ wedding dress on the cover. Normally that would seem like a jab at the marriage and their relationship but Kelis has proven to show nothing but respect for her former partner. In an interview with NME.com at the Isle of Wight Festival, Kelis revealed that she still highly regards Nas as an artist explaining, “For whatever it’s worth, he’s still the greatest.” And as for her wedding dress appearing on the cover of Life Is Good? Kelis simply stated that, “I respect that Nas wears his heart on his sleeve.” Kelis also talked about the completion of her upcoming album explaining, “It depends what day you ask me, some days I’m like ‘It’s 80% done’ and other days when I say ‘I’m 40% done’. I’m sort of midway I guess. It’s exciting though, it’s more electro, it’s a little deeper and darker.”
