Kelly Clarkson has had her share of hard-knocks in the past few months. First her new album, My December, almost didn’t get released, then her ex-boyfriend David Hodges wrote a song about her, then her album doesn’t become the smash hit that her previous one was, and then she cancels her tour. It really is a pity since no matter what your musical tastes, there is no denying this girl can belt it out. And finally she speaks out. Kelly recently posted an announcement on her website telling her side of the story. It’s sort of a re-hash of what she has said in previous interviews, but you definitely get the sense that she has matured, is ready to move on, and “never again” has to speak of it. (tee hee… sorry, I had to say it). So Mr. Hodges, I guess she really isn’t “Just a Little Girl” anymore.

“her album doesn’t become the smash hit”…In 4 weeks Kelly’s album has sold roughly as much as Avril’s “The Best Damn Thing”, and way more than Rihanna’s album did in their first 4 weeks on the chart. “My December” debuted at #1 on the world chart and actually is doing surprisingly well. Why is it that the media assumes the album is not a hit, not a smash? It took 1 year for Breakaway to be considered a smash. Please give this album a chance before making any statements as to its status as a hit or flop. I wonder if anyone ever checks the stats on My December or do they just assume? Anyway, this was a nice article by you guys. Take care.
Good for Kelly for taking the high road. Now maybe RCA and Clive will give some support to the album because it really is a great album (I think it’s better than the Breakaway album) and it’s songs deserve to be heard.
Since when do artists have to apologize to their record label? She makes the music, they sell the music, that’s how it works. Clive Davis is 75 years old, he has no idea what’s going on in pop culture anymore! Somewhere along the line record labels were given way too much control.
An album can be a ’smash hit’ but still suck. Just because something is ‘commercially’ acclaimed (see also: Nickelback, Akon) doesn’t mean it is CRITICALLY acclaimed or that it’s good. I love Kelly a LOT and I can only tolerate three songs on this album (Chivas, Irvine, Never Again).
its all publicity for her. there have been so many headlines surrounding the release of this album - even months before it came out. it’s all orchestrated & it’s working!
personally i’m a fan of the album even if never again is a weaker version of since u been gone. i wonder which single will be next?
if there is any justice in this world, it will be ‘irvine’. but there isn’t, so it won’t. although i think it SHOULD be a soft song!
I heard that the new single is going to be ‘Sober’ which I’m fine with - I think it’s the best song on the album. That and ‘Irvine’.
whats with all the alcohol related song titled? chivas? sober? is kelly hoping to winehouse it up?
Rah rah oo la la rama ma la la gaga!
