Back in October I went to the last stop on the Fool’s Gold tour - a lineup that included Kid Sister, A-Trak, DJ Mehdi and Kavinsky. The show was RIDICULOUS. When I arrived, Kid Sister (aka Melisa Young) was just taking the stage and everyone was LOVING it. She leaned closely into the crowd and got right up in everyone’s faces. Her set was followed by a bunch of sweaty anthems and mashups from three separate DJs. At 3am when the lights came on the place was still rammed to capacity (or past it) and everyone’s feverish dancing was brought to a halt.

Back then Kid Sister’s fingerdancing video for Pro Nails f. Kanye West hadn’t come out yet, but her name was already riding a wave of blog buzzdom, thanks to backing support from cool kids Diplo, Flosstradamus and Spank Rock.

Annoyingly, a wiki search for “Kid Sister” still only brings up the “My Buddy” doll of the same name or something called “Nately’s Whore” (???). I might get cracking on an actual Kid Sister page sometime this weekend.

Tonight Kid Sister’s doing a show at Wrongbar (haven’t been yet - it opened about a month ago) with Jokers Of The Scene (described on MySpace as “thrash/trance” - should be interesting) and DJ Nasty Nav (always solid at The Social). It’s going to be a raging dance party; I just know it!

Next she heads off to the U.S. and then Australia and Mexico to play shows with the likes of top supporters and MySpace ‘friends’ Chromeo, bf A-Trak, Akon and of course, Kanye West!
