Kings of Leon pulled out a bit of an unexpected cover recently when they tackled pop star Robyn’s hit single, Dancing On My Own. But you know what? We love it! The band’s somber rock take on the hard-hitting electro-pop beats translate beautifully and we’ve got to give this cover a solid A+. But covers are such a common occurrence nowadays that we’ve decided to take this cover as a jumping point for six more degrees of covers separation.
To start off, of course, we have Kings of Leon’s cover of Robyn’s Dancing On My Own:
…In 2010, Cee-Lo Green covered Kings of Leon’s Radioactive:
…Back in 2008, Maroon 5 covered Crazy by Green’s side project, Gnarls Barkley:
…Canadian act Walk Off the Earth has covered a number of famous songs, including Maroon 5′s 2012 hit, Payphone:
…Of course, Walk Off the Earth’s biggest hit cover to date is still their innovative one-guitar rendition of Gotye’s Somebody That I Used To Know, which was also covered by British singer, Rita Ora:
…Rita Ora also covered One Direction’s What Makes You Beautiful last year:
…And what band has One Direction covered before? KINGS OF LEON!Tweet
