Lady Gaga is being sued by the makers of the Bratz dolls for breach of contract over a planned Gaga doll. The doll manufacturers are asking for $10 million after the pop star requested a list of last-minute changes to the Gaga doll, jeopardizing the toy maker’s ability to meet their deadline.
In an e-mail, Gaga informed manufacturers to make the doll’s face “more supermodel-like … Think a prettier version of Gaga. Thin out the cheeks and sharpen the jawline. Give her more of a cat-eye and sexier, poutier lips.” Gaga also asked that the doll got a zombie outfit inspired by the Born This Way video and that the toy gets a removable head that will reveal a bloody stump.
The doll company had originally wanted the Gaga doll ready in time for the end of this year, for Christmas, but they’re accusing Gaga of purposefully delaying the process so that the toy wouldn’t come out till 2013, when her new album is slated to be released.
Gaga’s spokesperson says that none of this was done on purpose, though. “Lady Gaga will vigorously defend MGA’s ill-conceived lawsuit and is confident that she will prevail,” her spokesperson said, adding, “There was no legitimate reason for dragging Lady Gaga into that dispute.”
