One of my favourite Americanadian lady-singers, the loverly Ms. Neko Case, is gonna be at Massey Hall tomorrow night. If I wasn’t so busy being a rock star (ie: guitar lessons) I’d totally be there. But since I can’t, here are three good reasons why you should consider it:
Reason #1: Award Worthy Music. Neko Case’s “People Got A Lot of Nerve” was nominated in the Alternate Reality Indie MMVAs. Yes, okay, so it was my own personal awards show. That doesn’t mean it wasn’t a good song, or that it didn’t deserve the nomination.
Reason #2: Street Cred. Neko case has formerly been a part of the New Pornographers, notably on their crazy-good Twin Cinema album. They were so heartbroken when she left to go solo, they had to get Immaculate Machine’s Katherine Caulder to fill in for her. (I love you too, Katherine Caulder!)
Reason #3: Listen to this, Neko Case’s “Star Witness”! My apologies for the awesome sound quality. By which I mean, you should thank me for linking you to this video. It’s not my favourite song (that is “South Tacoma Way”), but I couldn’t find a video of that anywhere.
You can also check out Neko’s myspace page, or her show tomorrow night in Toronto (*nudge nudge*)! Do what I can’t do: don’t miss it!
