It’s no secret that I’m passionately in love with Last.fm. I scrobble my tracks all day long, I obsessively check my friend’s playlists and track their listening habits, and I’m actively involved in the Last.fm community, posting events and concert reviews & pics. So it’s no surprise that I’m a huge advocate of their post this afternoon that counts down the very best of 2008, not according to album sales or label priorities, but (gasp) actual listening habits of over 21 million active users. Click through for a peek at which artists, albums and tracks defined the musical landscape online in 2008.

  1. I am a huge fan of last.fm but I can’t help that think that these stats are slightly skewed in the UK’s favour. Makes sense, last.fm are based out of the UK and would probably have more UK users….

  2. i really wasn’t aware that coldplay are that popular
