Lil Wayne expected to serve time in jail

Looks like Lil’ Wayne is headed to prison.

The rapper pleaded guilty to attempted weapons possession charges today and is expected to serve a maximum sentence of one year. However, Weezy will likely only have to serve about eight months behind bars.

The guilty plea comes after an original plea of not guilty. The switch was done in order to avoid a trial, which could have resulted in a sentence of three and a half years, were he to be found guilty.

The charge is in relation to a 2007 incident in New York, where cops discovered a gun while searching Weezy’s tour bus. Evidence found Lil’ Wayne’s DNA on the weapon.

Weezy is also set to go on trial in Arizona for a felony drug possession and weapons charge from last year.
