Lil’ Wayne will finally begin his prison sentence today. After three delayed court appearances, the rapper is finally set to be sentenced this afternoon at the Manhattan Criminal Court Building for a gun arrest from 2007. Lil’ Wayne is expected to plead guilty to attempted gun possession and then turn himself in immediately to begin his prison term.

Weezy was originally scheduled for sentencing on February 9th, but his lawyer asked for a postponement so he could have dental surgery to have 8 root canals. The sentencing was delayed a second time when a fire broke out at the courthouse on March 2nd. The day after the fire, Weezy’s sentencing was rescheduled again for today (March 8th) because the courthouse was not yet ready.

In 2007, Lil Wayne was arrested for attempted gun possession following his first headlining performance in Manhattan at the Beacon Theatre. He is expected to be released from prison as early as October

During his last week of freedom, Lil Wayne kept himself very busy. He threw a farewell party with Cash Money and Young Money at Club Liv. He also joined Young Jeezy and Nicky Minaj on stage at Jay-Z’s Madison Square Garden concert and partied with the Young Money crew at the club 10ak in NYC.

Not only did he party, he also worked on his music. He flew to Miami to record some songs and recorded seven music videos in one day. The videos he shot are for himself, Rick Ross, Drake, Shanell, Travis from Gym Class Heroes and Diddy. His newest video premiered last week online and is for the song “Drop the World,” which features Eminem

A prison guard at Riker’s Island Prison told MTV that Weezy will be in “a high-class area where he will be segregated from [the general] population” though he will “be housed with inmates who are classified in his category… he will be able to watch television, go into the day room and congregate with people of his classification… He’ll have no preferable treatment at all. He’ll be treated like a regular inmate.”
