Linkin Park want their fans to remember the experience of attending their shows so much that they’ve teamed up with one of the leading concert bootleggers to do so.
A download will be available to fans who send a text message containing a code that will be found at each venue the band play. Following the concert, a unique link will then be emailed to the concertgoers, which will allow them to download the audio from the show they just witnessed.
Basecamp Productions, a “pioneer in the development of the official concert bootleg,” is set to distribute the live Linkin Park recordings. Previously they have worked with artists like Jay-Z, Kings of Leon, My Morning Jacket, Sonic Youth, and of course, Pearl Jam, who famously launched their “Official Bootleg” series.
In an interview with WENN, Linkin Park bassist Dave Farrell said, “The energy we get from our fans is what makes a great show. We wanted to show our appreciation by giving that experience back to them.”
Fans in Montreal and Toronto will be able to grab these bootlegs when Linkin Park play the Bell Centre on February 7th and the Air Canada Centre on February 8th.
