Tired of seeing Miley Cyrus’ tongue every time you turn on the news? Worried the youth of today will spend junior high dances twerking? Can’t watch Growing Pains reruns without having VMA flashbacks of Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke doing whatever the hellz they were doing? Then we have the cure for you.
Postmodern Jukebox, who say their goal is to give ‘an alternate history of pop music’, teamed up with Brooklyn group the Tee-Tones to release a doo-wop version of Cyrus’ track We Can’t Stop. I think they should have called it We Can’t Stop the Doo-Wop, but either way it’s a great cover.
The band posted the video on their website and a note explaining how they changed the tempo of the song and gave it ‘instant class’. Really? I thought Cyrus and her colourful vocabulary were the epitome of class.* The site even includes the sheet music in case you want to play along with We Can’t Stop the Doo-Wop. Come on, let’s get this title going.
*Yesterday Cyrus posted a tweet that included a word she yelled at a paparazzi that I can’t even veil with *!?@ because it’s the word you NEVER say. Gurl, work on that class.Tweet
