Brooklyn indie band Small Black has released their track Free At Dawn and we can’t get enough of it. The band has never called them a “chillwave” band but it’s a label that many indie fans have attached to Small Black. Chart Attack touched on this labelling and reported that Small Black “have dismissed the chillwave label since it first pushed upon them, and Free At Dawn demonstrates either how wrong the initial branding was, or how adamant the band are at refuting it.” After listening to the track, I can’t help but agree. The beat is energetic and synth-y and amazing. So how about we just call the band “really good” and be done with it, shall we?
Check out Free At Dawn here and be sure to check out their album Limits of Desire when it debuts May 14!
