What has YouTube brought us? Other than that Canadian wonder kid Justin Bieber, we got Chocolate Rain, Charlie biting his brother’s finger, and Karmin. It was so easy to discredit YouTube sensations but nowadays it is increasingly harder to do so as it is a growing medium for unknown talent to display their work online and Karmin is proof positive that it is worth it to put your talent out there.
Their debut album, Hello is filled with the pop sound they are known for and for those who are fans of lead vocalist Amy Heidemann’s emceeing skills, I’m proud to say she spits some hot fire on this one (check out the insane track I Told You So). But my absolute favourite track features Heidemann’s cover partner and fiancée Nick Noonan lay down his own vocals on the track Coming Up Strong. Though Hello is only seven tracks long, it is short and sweet and definitely leaves you wanting more.
Best tracks: Coming Up Strong, Walking On The Moon
Be sure to listen to Karmin’s debut album Hello in MuchMusic’s First Spin section before its release on May 8.
Check out other great album previews in our First Spin section like records from Skip The Foreplay and Shawn Hook.
