Don’t let their name or looks fool you because though they look like punk teenagers from your local mall and their name is pretty crass, Skip The Foreplay has a pretty surprising sound. They’re a metalcore group from Montreal, but they combine influences from screamo, electro, rock, and dubstep all to create this unique and alive sound. Skip The Foreplay just completed their first tour with Falling in Reverse and can be found this summer on the Vans Warped Tour.
On their album Nightlife you’ll find some extreme drum skills going down on their track DTK. We’re a huge fan of the dub-step heavy track, Dinner with Snooki which can only make us wonder if they actually watch The Jersey Shore. Their high energy sound will probably wake up your senses (and perhaps your neighbours.)
Favourite tracks: DTK, Dinner with Snooki, Shots
Their album Nightlife comes out on May 1st, but you can listen to their entire album before it drops on MuchMusic’s First Spin here. Listen to other First Spin Singles from artists like Japandroids or Coldplay here, and if you want more of a beat then check out First Spin Singles Remixed which features artists like Redd, Snoop Dogg, and Akon here.
And if you’re new to metal core and don’t actually know what they’re saying, dip your toes into the water with their cover of Champagne Showers by LMFAO in this tour video below:
