Looks like there’s another monarchy in the world of Kings of Leon as KOL member Jared Followill and Nick Brown of the Nashville-based band Mona have come together to create Smoke and Jackal. Smoke and Jackal on the whole is definitely southern and Kings of Leon-y rock but with a tinge of alternative indie. If you’re a fan of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club or Geographer, you’re going to like this record.
When we last reported on Smoke and Jackal, we told you that Jared was really positive about the collaboration saying that, “Coming together just worked”. Jared continued, “I think it’s because we took such an easy approach to it, we didn’t bring any egos to it. We just talked about each other’s ideas, neither one of us got our feelings hurt. It just worked.”
Best tracks: You’re Lost, Fall Around

Check out Smoke and Jackal’s record EP1 on MuchMusic.com‘s First Spin section before it drops Tuesday, October 16 as well as other great albums from artists like David Usher, Lindi Ortega, and Cody Simpson!
