Listen to some Novels?

A good supergroup can be pretty super. It’s basic math really. Take band members from already super bands, add them together, and you’ve got something pretty exciting! Novels aren’t just any supergroup though. Oh no. Come! Let me teach you a little Novels lesson! There’s a surprise at the end!

First things first! Who makes up this “super” group? Who else but a mish mash of Toronto indie bands! We have…
- Graham Wright, who plays keyboard with those fun-sters known as Tokyo Police Club
- Dean Marino singer-songwriter producer, and member of the band Ex~po
- Will Currie, who you’ll be surprised to hear, is the lead singer in Will Currie & The Country French
- Jason Sadlowski, otherwise known as Jay Sad
And last but not least!
- Luke Lalonde, front man of the oh-so-hip Born Ruffians

Quite the mix right?! Now here’s where things get reaaalllly interesting. Let’s talk about their EP and the little fact that they wrote, arranged, and recorded it all in a mere 16 HOURS! Wow! Crazy! Who does that?! Apparently Novels do! But still! To write, arrange and record 5 songs from scratch in such a short amount of time is kinda unheard of.

So now you must be all “Well if they wrote it in such a short time, the songs must be not that good. Right?”

Wrong my dear friend. Oh so wrong. Novels sound like a mix of…well a mix of all the bands of which they are made up of! Obvious yet true. Lighthearted fun to sing along to. Is it to early to already name it my summer album? You know that album that to sit out side and drink lemonade to? This is it.

Now you must be all “WOW I NEED THIS!” and I agree that yes indeed you do. But you wont find the handmade Novels EP in any record shops. Let me quote their website to explain…

NOVELS won’t be sold in CD stores, on the internet, or anywhere else. Instead, we’ll give them away, or put them places. Maybe you’ll find a copy sitting on a park bench. Maybe a masked man will hand you one as he passes you on the street. Maybe none of these things will happen. But we’ll make sure that everyone gets a chance to listen if they want to.
