Coldplay have dropped their new single Every Teardrop is a Waterfall off their upcoming, yet to be titled album. The song shows a new foray intro an electronic sound for the British band, who sample Peter Allen’s I Go To Rio as the backing track.
Continuing with the optimistic and uplifting sound the band perfected on Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends, Every Teardrop is a Waterfall shows growth for the band, taking the best parts of their sound and combining them with a fresh new dance undertone. This experimentation with an electronic sound is reminiscent of Coldplay producer Brian Eno’s earlier work with bands like U2 and Depeche Mode, who pioneered the electronic rock anthem sound in the 1990s.
