Tough to say what would be weirder: Feist covering Mastodon or Mastodon covering Feist? Well, our prayers have been answered with the two parties coming together to take on each other’s material. A special Record Store Day split single will be released tomorrow, cleverly nicknamed “Feistodon” that finds Canada’s own Feist taking on Mastodon’s “Black Tongue,” while the metal giants cover the indie darling’s “A Commotion.” Might seem like an odd choice for Feist, but if you’ve seen her play the guitar, you’ll know that she can shred accordingly, though her version is a little tame, but none the more menacing. Meanwhile, Mastodon, predictably tear up theirs.
