Walk The Moon is a four piece from Cinncinati, Ohio. They are Nicholas Petricca, Kevin Ray, Sean Waugaman, and Eli Maiman. They sound like any fun band you’d want to play full blast at the park or solo in your room in the summer (so you can have a solo dance party, obvi). It seems that other people think so because Esquire magazine called Walk The Moon’s single, Anna Sun one of the best songs of the summer of 2011. Esquire commented, “Keytar is the new cowbell. And because, keytar or not, this might just be the catchiest, most synthed-out and perfectly constructed pop track around right now.” Apparently Anna Sun is also named after Nicholas’ professors at college. Nicholas explained that that song is “about college, about maintaining that little bit of being a kid… Don’t be afraid to play.”
Best tracks: Next In Line, Anna Sun, Tight Rope, Quesadilla
Listen to self-titled album by Walk The Moon here before it drops on June 19 and other great artists like Zulu Winter and Ocasan at MuchMusic’s First Spin section.
