One of the best parts of MuchMusic.com is the First Spin section. It allows people to sample music they might not otherwise be exposed to. Don’t get us wrong, we love the regulars on New. Music. Live. like Katy Perry and One Direction. But acts like those featured on The Wedge and Rap City that often don’t get played enough and they deserve as much exposure as the next Carly Rae Jepsen. So let’s check out this new album from Beach House together, shall we?

Beach House is a group from Maryland and they focus on the genre of dream pop. What’s “dream pop”, you ask? Imagine that feeling when you’re in your parents car watching the world go by from the backseat window, in the summer time. That, is dream pop. It is light and airy and very relaxing yet is evokes almost melancholic sentimentality. Which ironically, can get heavy at times. Beach House has been banging out the dream pop hits since 2004 and their album Bloom will be their fourth studio album.

This album is another one for your summer playlist so give them a listen (we’re sure Carly Rae would want you to).
