Zach Braff’s Kickstarter-funded film is only a few weeks away from a wide release and the former Scrubs star is giving fans and funders a sneak peek at the film’s soundtrack. Featuring original music from The Shins, Cat Power, Coldplay and more, the full soundtrack is set to be released on July 15.
Today’s new track comes from Bon Iver with the stirring song Heavenly Father. Wish I Was Here’s Music Supervisor Mary Ramos worked closely with Bon Iver’s Justin and Nate Vernon, showing the musicians a cut of the film before its release. In addition to the new song Heavenly Father, the soundtrack also features Holocone by Bon Iver, a track that Ed Sheeran rapped about on his latest album, X.
Wish I Was Here also includes music from Gary Jules, Badly Drawn Boy, Paul Simon, The Head and The Heart and many more.
Braff gained some notoriety in the music world with the release of his debut film Garden State and its accompanying soundtrack, which helped bring notoriety to then relatively unknown band The Shins.
Wish I Was Here hits theatres on July 18.Tweet
