Lost Recap: 6-02

Zombiid

Episode Two Episode Two Episode Two! As if all the other jungle craziness wasn’t enough, are you ready for the Zombies?

Haha, I’m just kidding. OR AM I?

Good news! Sayid is alive! Bad news: the survivors, most of them Original Castaways, are still stuck at the Temple of Mystery. And some of them are thinking of breaking out. Sawyer sure is pissed off about everything, which makes sense (according to him) ‘cause Juliet is still dead and Sayid isn’t. Wah-wah-wah. Everyone dies on this show. Sawyer should know that she’ll probably be back soon enough….

The temple others demand to speak to Sayid alone, except by speaking, they mean sending him to shock therapy. But it was all just a test, which he may or may not have passed, we’re not sure. Now he’s all wounded again, and Jack is getting antsy.

The TO’s make some medicine and try to get Jack to make Sayid take it, but it all becomes a big ole’ trust issue. Jack chooses not to give Sayid anything, and confronts the Keeper, who won’t tell him what’s in the pill. So Jack throws trust right in the Keeper’s FACE, and tries to take the pill himself. Unfortunately, all this earns him is a beat down and a cup of tea.

Meanwhile, Sawyer is breaking out! He holds the Temple Others up at gun point and runs. Kate swears she’ll bring him back and heads out into the jungle with Jin and some TO’s. But it was all just a ruse, because once in the jungle, she knocks out the guards, steals their weapons, leaves Jin confused, and heads to the abandoned Dharma Town where Sawyer is tearing up the floor boards. She’s worried about him, d’awww, but he is having none of it.

Grumpy! Sawyer is totally no fun, but I like him better than Sad Sawyer, who doesn’t seem to want Kate to hang around him, and makes her cry. Man, it is a bad day to be a Kate-and-Sawyer-FOREVA person.

Back at the temple, Jack finally gets some information out of the TO’s. They tell him the pill is poison because Sayid has been “claimed” just like “your sister”, quote unquote. Which, in case you missed it earlier, is Claire! Except, wait, maybe it’s not, because back in the jungle, the guards catch up with Sayid and would have taken him out but for the Crazy Lady Avec Shot Gun who gets them first. And by Crazy Lady, I don’t mean Rousseau: it’s Claire.

Back in LA: Kate is carjacking Claire’s cab. And being pretty vicious about it. She kicks Claire out of the car and leaves her by the road side! Dude. This is a far cry from the “Oh hey sure I’ll raise your baby since you’ve vanished in the jungle” version of Kate. Later she has a change of heart, and goes back to pick her up. For some reason, Claire is still talking to her. And asking her to be moral support when she goes to meet the Adoptees? Or, I guess, Adoptee, because the woman’s husband has left her, and she doesn’t want the baby anymore. Conveniently, Claire chooses this moment to go into labour. Greaaaat.

Now we’re at the hospital! Claire didn’t go into labour until WAY later than this in Season One, and HOLY CRAP, how is Ethan the doctor?! He’s supposed to be on the island, or at the very least having just gotten off the plane. NOT as a doctor in LA. Stranger than that is, she still letting Kate stick around even though Kate was holding a gun to her head an hour ago. There are even some cute bonding moments when Claire helps Kate avoid the authorities (now she’s an accomplice!) and they talk about how Claire is gonna call her baby Aaron. And all I’m thinking is: Man, I wish Charlie was here.

But that’s just me. Because I’m sure there’s more important stuff to talk about. Claire’s alive on the island! Ethan definitely shouldn’t be in that hospital. Can we all be worried about baby snatchers now? Is Sawyer gonna get over Juliet soon? Maybe he needs to do some time travelling, she’s probably alive in LA anyhow. Last, and definitely most importantly: will Hurley be right about Sayid become a Zombie? … I feel a “time will tell” joke would be bad form here.
