The Twilight Saga: New Moon cleaned up at last night’s 2010 MTV Movie Awards where the vamp flick took home five awards including Best Picture, Best Male Performance and Best Female Performance. The show was loaded with skits and jokes about the series including a pretty hilarious piece about Bad Ass Cops, a police-themed action adventure starring Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson.
The show was also heavy on Les Grossman, Tom Cruise’s overweight media mogul character from Tropic Thunder. Apparently timeliness wasn’t the show’s thing but Tom’s dance-off with J-Lo was definitely a highlight of the show. Host Aziz Ansari moved the show along with hilarious bits including an Avatar tribute song as R-Kelly and a skit as Zach Galifianakis’ swagger coach Taavon.
Sandra Bullock shined when she accepted the Generation Award from Bradley Cooper, Betty White and Scarlett Johansson. Her onstage appearance was one of her first since her very public break-up from husband Jesse James. Bullock made it clear that she was doing fine by laying a kiss on Johansson (her husband Ryan Reynolds played Bullock’s love interest in The Proposal) and declaring that she wants everyone to return to making fun of her.
Another surprise moment of the night was when The Hangover’s Ken Jeong accepted the award for Best WTF Moment. Jeong choked back tears when he revealed that his wife had struggled with breast cancer and has been cancer free for two years.
Also, it wouldn’t be an MTV show without a couple musical performances from Katy Perry and Christina Aguilera. Both ladies worked it hard core; see Katy’s boob boosting bustier and Christina’s light up pelvis heart.
But, the most blatant thread throughout the show was the F-bomb. From Mark Wahlberg hanging from the ceiling yelling profanities to Twilight’s acceptance speech by Peter Facinelli, at least a dozen f-words slipped past the censor.
