Editors @ VFest Toronto, September 2007

Attention to all those who love the kind of music that sends chills down your spine as well as make you dance: you’ll love Editors.

Around 2006, I discovered Editors when We Are Scientists kept mentioning them (whether it was in articles or videos. I didn’t expect to be so blown away! Their first album The Back Room is one I still listen to often.

Many write Editors off as “Interpol ripoffs” but I have to disagree.

While Interpol may also bring the chill factor, Editors have an epic-ness about them. You know how Muse just has a big sound? Editors have their own kind of grand resonance. Editors frontman Tom Smith has a distinctive hauntingly beautiful voice filled with emotion that is almost Ian Curtis-esque.

The Birmingham foursome released their second album An End Has A Start just last summer, and are going to be playing a show January 22 at the Kool Haus with Canadians Hot Hot Heat opening. Anyone else who saw them at VFest Toronto this year would agree when I say they’re a band you don’t want to miss!

P.S.: The Back Room was nominated for the Mercury in 2006, so you know it’s not just me who loved it!
