Another day, another stupid decision by M.I.A. While headlining The Big Chill music festival in England on Saturday the singer invited fans to join her onstage during her performance of Paper Planes. Over 200 festival-goers rushed security barriers and made their way to the stage, forcing the concert organizers to cut the set short.

It’s clearly stated in M.I.A.’s contract with The Big Chill that any endangerment of fans could lead to the singer forfeiting her paycheque for her performance. I could quite honestly care less about whether M.I.A. gets paid. I’m shocked that she didn’t see the danger in encouraging the thousands of music lovers at the festival to push past one another to get to the stage. It’s a terrible statistic that people die at concerts, especially large festivals when attendance is in the thousands. Shame on you, M.I.A. How you have any fans left at this point, I don’t know. I would suggest not putting those few listeners who are still loyal to your once great music in jeopardy.
