Friday night, Liz Trinnear and I had the luxury of seeing one of my all-time favorite musicians, M83, play at the legendary small, rundown, and ever so amazing Lee’s Palace in Toronto. This was actually my second time seeing them at this venue (my fifth time seeing them overall) and just their past gigs, Antony Gonzales, the man behind M83, did not disappoint. He played about over 13 tracks from his new double disc album Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming, which came out on October 18, as well as a few of his past hits. Each song was better than the last and he left the crowd screaming for more. Or maybe just screaming, as we stood right beside the speakers and forgot our ear plugs (oops!).
M83’s music is amazing. It’s so full of passion and feelings. You can’t help but be moved by the melodic vocals sung over really loud electronic beats and reverb effects. If you’re into shoegaze music I strongly suggest you check them out. However, M83 is a bit more of an electro pop kind of sound. The type that makes you sit back, close your eyes and just feel the music. Every time I play their music for my friends, it always strikes up the question, “who is this?!?”. And if you like supermodels, you might recognize the new Victoria Secret commercial using the song Midnight City.

Unfortunately, there are no other Canadian dates on the current tour, but keep an eye out for future tours and grab tickets before they sell out!
Don’t miss M83 on Jimmy Fallon tomorrow night at 10pm ET on MuchMore!
